2019 Acle Meet

Events > 2019 Events
This year our Autumn meet was held at Acle Bridge and facilitated by The Broads Boating Company and Pedro Restaurant. In all 14 boats and crews attended on yet another fine warm and sunny weekend. Crews travelled from far (and not so far) and wide across the Broads (....from as close as Acle and Upton Dyke, to as far away as Stalham, PotterHeigham, Coltishall, Geldestone, Oulton Broad, and Brundall i.e pretty much each corner of the Broads system - with apologies to any locations not mentioned!).

Due to their relatively close proximity to Acle Bridge, a few crews met up at Ludham Bridge the day before the meet, and cruised down together from there in order to make a bit more of the weekend outing away from their home moorings....

By around 3pm on Saturday all of our attendees had arrived and moored on the riverside or in the Broads Boat Company basin. We had all originally been booked into the basin but due to a temporary electricity supply problem in Pedro's a running generator propmted a move to the riverside moorings....

It was good to see Clive (Dungraftin) once again, who had joined us after driving down from "Gods County" (Yorks) and then cruising down from Sutton Staithe as a single hander for the first time. We were also joined by new Safari enthusiasts John and Mel (Tight Lines) and new Safari owners Mark, Miranda and son Oscar (Mara).

Our afternoon gathering soon took on the usual format with copious supplies of assorted home baked cakes washed down with tea, coffee, beer and/or other beverages, accompanied by a sizeable helping of good humoured banter...

With some new boats to check out (Tight Lines, Mara) and new modifications/updates to others (e.g custom rear steps (Audere), gel coat polish/valeting (Wild Thyme), new waste tank and gauge (Moonshine), paint job (Free Spirit) etc) there were plenty of guided tours and comparison visits on offer! As usual these comparisons generate ideas and act as inspiration for further updates to our own respective boats...

As the sun began to sink over the horizon at around 18:30 hrs, we adjourned to Pedro's for a group dinner booking. After adding some extra places to our booking at short notice, Pedro's accommodated all 24 of us across two main tables in the restaurant. Everyone agreed that the food, drink, atmosphere and the overall Pedro's (unique dining) experience was extremely good and "going Mexican" was thoroughly enjoyed by all (see pictures below, courtesy of our roving evening photographer Keith!). As Arnie says...."We'll be back....."

By mid morning on Sunday the meeting broke up with crews heading off in different directions once again bringing our 2019 meetings to a close.

Thanks to everyone for attending and we'll hopefully see you all again next year if not before!!
