The 2025 Salhouse Event had fewer attendees this year for a variety of reasons. Sadly, we lost Alan (Maudie) a Hampton Safari Boat Club "original" who passed on shortly after the last Salhouse meeting, and other regular attendees have also given up Safari boating on age/health grounds, including Ted - another "original" (Wild Thyme, Lanson), and Alan & Moyra (Xena). Others have changed their vessels of choice, such as "Young Dave" another "original" (Regal Safari) - new owner of a Broads sailing boat, and Keith yet another "original" (Lanson) and new owner of a day boat.

We did reach a total of 20 boats registered, but Fate then stepped in again, and a mix of boating breakdowns, delayed repairs, and other good reasons meant that we were reduced to just 14 boats on the day! We hope for a good outcome for all of those crews, and with a fair wind look forward to seeing them all at next years Salhouse meet!

Having fewer boats meant the "shore crew" got an "early off" & a chance to get around and chat with everyone....which meant that I forgot to take photo's etc! There was a fine display of Safari's dressed in bunting which drew admiring comments and interest from passers by...

Another good time was had by all and the day was spent very much as usual, chatting & catching up, visiting each others boats, local hostelries and the surrounding landscape and environs of Salhouse Broad. We were lucky again with the weather and although the sky was cloudier than normal, it was still very warm and best of all stayed dry!!

Hopefully, we'll all be back again next year...or at Beccles in September.
